paper yummies..........

if your lucky.....

If your lucky enough to get him to sit still for just one moment....Toby takes a great photo.....

When we went to meet this lug of a puppy he ran up to her and he sat at her feet. He chose us, he chose her she was 3 and he was in love with his little human. He to this day doesn't hide that fact. He will search for her if he can't find her in the yard and he will wait for her to play.
He is hers and she is his.

So in a lot of ways life is about a puppy and his girl. Even when that puppy becomes huge. His favorite thing in the world is to play football. Over and over and over again and again.

Or at least just one more time...(maybe two)

WE love you dog....

12x12 paper treasures.......

favorite chair.........

A girls favorite chair.................
We picked up a couple of these little vintage chairs at a auction.
We knew that someday we'd find a wonderful home for them. We never knew it would be in
front of our sweet little playhouse. This one is her favorite chair. I'm sure it's the color, she says it more cozie than the rest.....
Either way, it makes me smile and I too, love this little old chair. I can only imagine all the wonderful experiences this little chair has seen. Family gatherings, church activities, fishing trips, picnics and oh, the wonderful parades it has sat thru. I am so glad this little "Orangie Chair" has found a home with us.

on canvas....

On canvas....I painted it pink and then adhered my treasures....A little basic grey, hambly and vintage findings and I'm all set.
I love how the chunky frame can stand alone or hang on the wall. The scrabble letters are vintage and I stained them with TIm Holtz ink and sanded them a touch.
I Love to work with canvas because it gives a wonderful deminsion to each thing you create.
Next time your shopping get doubles of your favorites photos and gave an inexpensive canvas and you could have a great way to share your creative talent....
Always remember that your creative side doesn't always have to come in a 6x6 or a 12x12. It surely doesn't have to be flat....Life is not flat neither should your talented artwork.

paper goodness............

baby boy....

It's a boy...........
I just finished up a little frame for a friend who recently had a little baby boy. I hope she'll like it, his room is all airplanes..This began as a white canvas frame and from there with the help of a little Cosmo Cricket, I am done....done....done....
I finished the frame off with a touch of Maya mist to give it a wonderful sparkle. I am afraid that's a bit hard to see, but I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope she loves it...She just needs to add her favorite photo and it is complete..
The stamp is adorable and an exclusive from Studio Calico.

Thanks for checking it out and now we're off to the yard and poolside..........

been busy....

Life has been crazy busy.....every once in a while a cloud comes along and you have to pull out a camera and grab a shot.
On the way to our daughters game and we found this cloud along the edge of the road. Little did we know at the time that what followed this cloud were many more. In twenty short minutes we had sirens going off and tornado warnings all around us.
Wouldn't you know that we played the game and where we were no weather came to us. It only happened all around.
It is kinda scary and strange that we don't react to the sirens like in the old days. We as a world have to much going on to worry about weather. I am kind of scratching my head at this event.

My little sweets decided to play softball this year, and I am amazed...she's really pretty good.
I am impressed she loves it and could play all day, every day. We tried t-ball a few years ago. She was terrified of the ball and anything that had to do with the ball, that makes playing BALL kind of hard. This year something just changed, I realize it is just the start but I have really enjoyed watching her learn and grow. I have even been able to watch and control that competitive nature that I have which often over takes me. Play on and enjoy. I love that there are a few things to keep her in touch with her friends, make new friends and stay active.

God's creatures.......

Sooooo, what wanders in your yard?......

Yesterday this little guy fell out of a tree........isn't he adorable? Unfortunately like everything else that wanders in my yard no one lets me keep the creatures big or small...cute or adorable...
Today I am sad...I would have named him and loved him and let him go.....Growing up on the farm we took in eveything and each had a name...so the farmgirl in me wanted to love and care for this one..of course the men in my life decided otherwise.

When we moved to this little town I like to call Mayberry America...I never thought so many creatures would come our way...We lived out on the edge and have a RR address and in our 10 years a new development has come and we are no longer the last of the edge. We even have curb and gutter now, no more ditches. However we still can see the farm from our front door and the urban sprawl has built up around them. Sadly so. I use to look at fields in my front window and backyard. Now I have a beautiful park in my front yard and neighbors in the back.

When we first moved here it was middle ground for us, both of us on the road each day different directions and working long hours with a dog and no kids. We were barely here and it was temporary, life decided otherwise and we are still in this house and no longer on the edge of town. We now have a street address and running water, hahahaha. You get the point. We have been here much longer than ever thought.

Even though the town has truly come to us, it doesn't stop the many creatures that cross my yard. Early one morning my hubby wakes and states he hears an elephant in the yard! Okay sweetie go back to sleep....then it happens again, that sound like no other, an ELEPHANT in the yard........then a rooster decides to cockledoodledoooo........ No lie when we looked outside there he stood plain as day the biggest elephant I have ever seen. A circus came to town and of course because we were never home we had no idea........

Since that day we have had cattle, chickens, wild turkeys, deer, cats, dogs, geese, ducks in the tree, raccoons, skunks, rare owls, and a random adult. Not another elephant has been here and I can only hope that maybe someday he'll return. When he does I'll name him and keep him forever. And hug him and squeeze him tight....

For today all I can do is wait for another creature to come my way....I hope he's cute and I'll love him forever.

cotton candy.........

Guess what we made for the weekend!!! You guessed it! Yay! Cotton Candy!!
Our little town has its yearly festival, parade and fun filled events. We often times with have family and friends over to enjoy the activities and grill. Of course it is all about the food and beverages. We have a little fire, some fireworks and alot of food. This year we grilled chicken and wings and offered up a variety of flavors.

Most importantly we rented a cotton candy machine and made ourselves up, 50 bags of candy.

We buy pink and blue....Blue is my favorite!!! and we make pink to give away I think!!
Love Love cotton candy........My honey was funny sweet and when I woke up one of the mornings he had clipped a few bags on a string. Just so it would taste better like at the carnival. Funny......I will have to say it does taste better when you grab a bag from a clip........

June has so far been the rainy month here and the humidity sets in soon, sadly that is exactly what goes our super giant hugely monstrous mosquito's.
Welcome Summer....I can't wait....

Let's talk parades..........what ever happened to the small town ones...ours is pretty good, don't get me wrong...we have our winning teams on a rack, our school band. We got the fire department and then it is a whole lot of advertisements. I get the business' wanting to promote, but then It would be great if they would do a little something creative. What ever happened to them being the sponsor behind that creative float.

I am considering a career change.....I know what your thinking now in this economy? I think it would be prefect timing why, because who would expect that of you. I am considering becoming a Parade Coordinator and Float Extraordinaire.
In other words I want to design floats for a living.........nobody else is doing it and I really feel with my background I'd have an edge in this job market..
We would have theme parades. Color of decor and hygiene requirements. I also would give breathalyzers to all of the drivers. Note to parade officials: parades DO NOT permit drinking and driving, ever if you are edging along.....

Finally I would officially place in to effect a candy requirement of all floats and each float would be assigned a special candy with more than enough to make through the entire parade candy.
Not everyone gets to be the one that throws Tootsie rolls....I know they are delicious, however...not everyone can be the goodie man. We need variety, after awhile the poor street is lined with Tootsie rolls forgotten and unwanted.
Then we have the emery board and pencil throwers. This weekend we got can coolers and even dog treats, now those are score. heheheheheeeeeeee

I miss the small town pom and circumstance. The parade that you would drive for miles just to see and be apart of. The parades filled with life, energy and pride for the people we call home.
Parade Planner wannabe......-L.
What do you miss and love about your hometown parades?

true friends.......

Jorge and Tobon.....True Friends......
My two dogs were the meaning of true friendship...

They were always there for each other and for us..
Toby doesn't like bad weather or sirens and Jorge was always right beside him.
She would lay right beside him and she would become extra calm for him.
She loved to play ball and I believe she taught him this same passion.
At first he loved to get the ball and he would keep that ball. Now days he will fetch and fetch and fetch some more.

I think the most wonderful thing she left us with is the continuous love. The real desire to be together. She taught that to, my very independent Toby. He will now sit and just wait for love, love,love.....One of the most wonderful things about him is he really loves to be together. Which also in turn, puts 100 pounds under foot fairly often.. That she didn't have time to teach him to do....stay out of the way...

Overall in this world regardless of the kind of friend you might have the most important thing is the kind of friend you are....
Jorge was a wonderful friend to all of us...I do believe that we were wonderful friends to her.
Loving my sweeties.....

There is hope....My UPS Man will be here today with a wonderful box of treasure.
Neither snow, sleet, rain or shine can keep the man in brown from visiting my door when scheduled. Right? I am listening. Wait for it. ....Wait...Right on the clock here he comes.
Wahooooo...thank goodness I am home today....It was a different upman and he just left it out in the rain, oh the crime he has done, surely he must know better right??

trim???????

Checking all love.........

Gotta love them, regardless right?

So this guy, my guy with all good intentions..
Tells me....I'm gonna take a few days off and get things done around the house.
Get things done? Huhhhhh?
"Okay sweetie"
I thought I'd put myself out there, I say "like what are you thinking about doing?"
Man.........oh Man............rather than tell me all things I might see accomplished.
He decides to state ALL the things he WILL NOT be helping me out with?
HUh?

Well my sweet sweet man.........let's see what you do know.
He says he will be finishing some landscaping, yeah so---and he plans on working on trim work.
Trim? Trim? ..........(a very long pause from me, eye roll and with a huge sigh.....)Trim?

Well, let's be reasonable. Webster's defines trim as: cosmetic. decorative...I prefer when it is defining an attractive woman. So I say great you plan on doing a decorative work on me..hehehe
Well, we have been married long enough I am pretty sure he means wood working. In our case however trim could mean duct tape, caulk, or whatever sticks. Frankly we do not believe in trim. Nothing wrong with my man it's is just that you wait so long and work so hard to remodel a little something, once we get to trim we are either out of money, or out of patience. I look at it as our way of staying green.

I am pretty sure landscaping will include mowing the lawn and putting out the hammock with a beverage.
As far as trim...I say who needs it..I am not much for looking like the guy next door, I am all about being me on the outside of the box. I never cared to color in the lines, so for me trim is a new thought.

Alot can happen in a day. So if he is giving the house two days we just might get that trim work done. If not, it will be OK with me, it has been so far and besides if the neighbors don't like it they can do the trim work I say. I hope it is the neighbor across the street her house trim is beautiful.

So as I am checking all the love in our days....I never included anything that matters to me to include the word TRIMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
I guess I just can't imagine a world with trim I am curious is see what it looks like. I guess once you have trim you may never want to be without. Go figure!! I simply say I have a feeling trim is simply a line that defines.

I shall not have trim be what defines me. Tsk tsk to trim....

(Don't you snicker you are all with me on the trim thing I know it!!!especially if your man is a DIY-MAN)

trimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrimtrim I'm just getting use to hearing it....
