it's that kind of day.....

Today is a Yellow kinda day.......

Has your day ever been that kinda day? Mine has and today my day is just yellow......

Simple, busy and thankful it is Friday---a yellow kinda of day......

I missed Monday somewhere this week and I have been trying all week to find it and that has made for a long week.....One might think missing Monday would have shortened it up but instead it has last for what seems like forever...By the time I find Monday it will be a new Monday and I'll be even further behind.

Today is a yellow kinda a day.....a day that is happening all around me and I am out watching. I have someones bug and I really appreciate it if they would stop by and pick it up... I never offered to care for their bug, have their bug , or pass their bug along. I am still the one holding this bug today and I feel crummy.

Today is a yellow kinda day.....I am so happy the sun is shining... Yesterday we spouted a thunder snow storm with rain, snow, hail, thunder and lightening.... By the time it was finished the snow was thick and heavy and frozen...Today the sun is melting the snow away and into spring.

Today is a yellow kinda day....As I was chipping snow off the front stoop the snow shovel handle snapped back and here I am embarrassed again. The shovel hit me hard right in the head lucky for me I reacted and it snapped the side of my head and missed my eye. I hit so hard that I can't even touch it and it is ugly swollen. I hurt my ear!! Knocked me silly. Snow storm injuries, thank goodness I didn't need medical attention. That would have been hard to explain. I can read it now "Knocked silly by her handle."

Today is a yellow kinda day..... a day to be grateful for real butter to make my cookies, to be grateful for the nice guy that cleaned my driveway for me!!! Chocolate Chip and Snicker doodles will be my Thank you... So often in this world we forget to help out, if more people in this world would just help one another out what a better place we would live in..

Today is a yellow kinda day.....the good of my day is I have fun goodies that I am waiting for to add to my stash of beautifully creative lovelies. So the wonderfully bright yellow of my day is midnight when it all becomes available. I am hopefully able to stay awake and not miss out on the delicious wonderful box of treasures......

May my next yellow day be bright and exciting................. -L.

an old webster's.....

An old Webster's....You can never have too many old dictionary's......

A wonderful bottom of a box flea market find. My project of the day. My book became a frame. It stands with all the other treasured frames, and a holds a very special moment to treasure....

I created this by deciding the size of the opening I wanted with the photo. I began by cropping the photo to the size I wanted and taking the measurement. Then deciding the number of layers I wanted to cut, to create a mat effect. I used an exacto knife to cut the layers. Then came the fun part, modge podge like crazy, all the edges inside and out, which in turn made it very stable and allows it to stand on its own. A few little accents and I am set to go.

I chose a favorite spot in the book to journal a note and then a tag at the top for more personal journaling.

This is one of my favorite photos of my sweet dog JorgeAnna, when she was young and full of life. She loved to "GO FOR" anything, it was the key word that made her chase her tail, with excitement and joy.... She loved to go for the ball, a walk and especially a ride. One thing about her is that she always had this smile. Smile that was amazingly filled with life and love.. Even though she is gone, today she brings me joy- isn't it amazing what a dog can do........

So the next time your thinking about tossing the old book aside. take a long look at it. Maybe it can be your next great frame to add to your mantle....

Be creative warm...........-L

pull up a chair.....

Yes, I know I'm back to my chairs...I got to admiring them today and thinking...
My Grandpa would say pull up a chair....stay awhile...
That's just how I felt about these crummy old blue/yellow/white kitchen chairs. They are the most springy blue I've seen all winter long. I'd seen them in one of my fav's and left them there and the following week they were still there. I can't believe that no one seen the joy or felt the love from those two old blue chairs.

I realize they don't match, one is smaller than the other. But, in life no two are ever alike and sometimes the most perfect match is greatly different. These two kitchen chairs go together like bluebirds in a nest....They love sitting in my front room soaking in the sun and patiently waiting with me for spring to join my world. These two chairs were way to inexpensive and had they been priced higher I am sure that someone would have gobbled them up in a heart beat. I am certain that the chipped lead paint has nothing to do with it...

These chairs have been on a very long journey and I am sure they have seen more than their share of the bottom of things. They have been apart of wonderful kitchen meals with a family, important conversations between a husband and wife. They pulled themselves out from the table to put on and take off many pairs of shoes and work boots. They have been drug across the kitchen floor to be climbed up on and reach the top shelf of the cupboard where the cookies were. Held a door open or held the single bag of groceries for the week.

These blue chairs had many lives as other colors and times. I'd like to believe the times were all good for their family, but I realize life doesn't work that way. So I respect them for the times they held up during adversity and challenges. During the times of sadness, tears, frustration, and the tired times, of hard work...

I am grateful for the times my blue chairs have held someone who was grateful and blessed. These blue chairs have travelled many distances and I admire their strength, I relish the spirit these two old chairs hold. As many say "If they could just talk...the things they could tell us.."

My love simply rolls his eyes and smiles, he knows my passion. He just waits for them to rotate out to a new finding.. I know they will be a wonderful entryway addition or porch addition someday.....but for today they are in a front room and they are happy....

Treasures will come to you, you may seek and search, but like anything else the path leads you to the things that will touch your heart. Remember that sometimes the simplest things can become your treasure. Sometimes that treasure was once some one's leftovers from a life that has followed its path. Always try to admire a potential treasure for what it can be, and respect it for all, that it was at one time.....

A couple of unwanted blue/yellow/white chipped (lead) paint chairs filled with strength, and spirit.....

I could only hope that someday I too with the coats of paint and chips be as strong and persevere as they have....

Funny what you can get from an old blue chair....-L

time well spent

A puzzle a day keeps the boredom's away....
So Saturday we were snowed in the looking for something fun to do..
Wouldn't you know that hidden deep in the cardboard of many board games, movies, music, and video games, was an unopened puzzle. A puzzle waiting for someone to take the time to make the pieces fit...Why yes Jack Sparrow came to town!!! That makes me very happy.
So this puzzle went together fairly quickly, with a 10 year old in the house 300-500 pieces are our challenge. We however, are rather competitive and it was a "who's going to solve the puzzle and find the pieces" All in all we had a fantastic time, and it was a perfect fit to a day in the house. We had a hard time taking it apart and putting Jack in the box. We have plans to do another one this week. I found it to be very relaxing and it was nice to have a little music and a wonderful conversation with my daughter.
So, this puzzle got me to thinking about a few things and here you have it... puzzle trivia.........
The 1st puzzle was created by John Spilbury in 1760's. He was a London engraver and mapmaker. He mounted a map on a sheet of hardwood and cut around the border of the countries. This was used to teach British children geography. They was known as dissections, but in that time was exactly a favorite word. :0
Until around the 1820's they remained only educational tools and in 1880 the treadle saw was created and what was known as dissections became the jigsaw puzzle. Cardboard puzzles were created in the late 1800's and not very popular. Wooden puzzles were about $1.00 and cardboard were about 25 cents. They say that the puzzle did really well during the depression. It was good entertainment for a small price and could be recycled, from one family to another.
So given the state of our economy and the state of some of our lives, lacking "time" for one another. Some how I see us back to doing puzzles. I'll bet when I get to Target this weekend they'll be all sold out. Maybe it is time our society rediscovers the puzzle. Maybe we'll rediscover each other and reduce a little stress. It is time to remember the things about our childhood that was fun and recreate some of that for our children. What a fun healthy pastime for these long, long winter months.
Besides I am pretty sure any one of us wouldn't mind if Jack or Will came to visit once in awhile. I just wish they'd make a hot puzzle of my hubby. Imagine all the stress I'd reduce and time I'd spend with that puzzle....
Be warm....-L.

we need a great escape.....

We need a great escape................
So----over the weekend we were "lucky" enough to get yet, other wintry batch of weather...
The snow comes, the wind blows, and ice forms.... We are at home, and for once I'd love to be away from home.
I'd love to make the lake my home today and everyday. Each year we make the lake our home as much as we can, it is our escape. I would love to give our daughter just one day , today at the lake to simply feed the ducks.
When I was creating this layout I could only feel how wonderfully warm the sun feels and how far away from this winter it always seems. We never are there and wish for a wintry day, we are caught in the moment. The wonderful sounds of the shore beckons us to jump in, the Loons singing in the distance waiting for me to try to capture their every move on film. They are calling me to the water, to float with the current and soak the sun into my skin. Even the sounds of a distance boat and it's spray is warm. The lake is endless.. The sun shines..
At the lake everything quietly floats by singing a glorious song of peace, comfort, and warmth.
The ducks float. They float back and forth waiting for delicious fresh bread. Each year she feels so responsible to her ducks and the family, we always run out of bread. We have to go the store and get more. It of course needs to be fresh because our sweetie tends to munch right along with them. The ducks float.
For this moment I am warm and comfortable. At peace.
The lake is our great escape, what's yours?
