Happy 4th of July....

Meet Angel.....
There's just something about her. That makes me feel................
This Eagle is located at the National Eagle Center, isn't she breath taking?
How lucky did these photos get? Yes, I really did take them. Luck would have it to get the stars and stripes in the background perfectly. I took them using my wonderful and vintage 35mm camera. No matter, how relic that camera may seem it takes the best photos for me.
I have had these photos for some time, I handle them often and have never been able to scrap them. I just can't seem to find the just right thing to match them. So rather, I simply admire them often. I think in alot of ways the photos are so grand in appearance, that they stand alone.
Angel reminds me of all this nation should stand for in her regal appearance. She reminds me of the ones who we love and who we have lost with pride and dignity for this place we call home.
May you celebrate this holiday wisely, with a joyous heart. May you eat, drink and be merry knowing that somewhere, someone isn't home for you and me.
May we celebrate their lives, freedoms and sacrifices.
Today I write with undying gratitude to each family that gives for my family. When I rise at our parade and I watch the fireworks know, I am grateful and proud of you and yours.
With respect and gratitude...-l

been framed.........

Just a few of my latest creations for Esty. Lots of paint ink, glazing, distressing, and a whole lot of wonderful paper. I like to use paper that is thick and has a bit of texture. It allows the final piece to have a really good feel when it is done. Of course that paper usually is BG or CP. Can't go wrong.
No the girl in the photo isn't mine, it is a random little stranger. It's the girl that comes with the frame, you silly women.
Thanks for checking them out....

framework

One of my favorite things to create are these frames. They are white canvas to start. When I am done I have a beautiful little something to share. The opening is a 4x6 which I like because you don't have to adjust the photo size beyond the basic developing. I have made many of these treasures in my day and no two are alike no matter how hard I try.

This one is hands down my favorite. I can't part with it. It is created with the always lovely Crate Paper. What I love about it are, the colors and the textures. It is inked, painted, and misted. The fibers and the scrabble pieces are vintage. Got to have a touch of vintage here and there..

If you'd like to check out a few of my other frames pop over to my Esty shop, maybe you'd love to have one for someone special. Note that someone special could be you too. :-)

Thanks for sharing one of my favorite things.....

happy friday

Wishing you a mighty happy friday!!!!!

May your day be plentiful and may all things go your way. When you open the doors may the birds sing and the sun shine. May a random hot stranger offer you a Venti Cold Starbucks. Sorry That's my favorite friday thing :). May the D$#@ bugs leave you alone.

I am not a big fan of bugs. We have been getting our fair share of rain, which brings the bugs. Ughhh....I must say I am not sweet in any way, so I have to ask myself why me?

I am the bug juice.

Well on to bigger and better matters. I have picked up all the dog leftovers, my yard is mowed, the pool is clean, the laundry is done, the closets are colorized. Whats left to do you might ask??????

Scrap of course!

Have a scrappy weekend and may you be your creative self!!! Remember: "Be happy-Laugh- Giggle-Smile-Laugh!"

Thanks for sharing a few of my little numbers...

grow.....beautiful........

Some days things just fit nicely and happily......
This just makes me happy.....
"Grow Beautiful....God captured me with you.............."
Have paint and ink, add a sewing machine and a girl's pleased as punch.....
There are days when I can stare for hours at something and think "What is it? What's it missing?"
Then there are days when I sit down and in a 1/2 hour I have this....I am pleased.
I love, love, love paper. I love it enough, to if the paper boat was sinking and it was the paper
or the hubby, I'd hesitate. That's honesty.
I mean think about it:
Does he match all the time?
Does he wear a great pattern every time?
Does he arrive and you think how did I ever live without that color?
Does he smell wonderful every time when he arrives?
Does he have all matching accessories?
Does he let you paint and ink him when you want? .........OKAY don't answer that one...TMI!!
What I am trying to say is I love paper......It's a great affair of the heart.....

3 layouts for today

3 goodies for today...I love to create layouts with all my creatures. It is a fun way to mark a memory of them too. Pets are such a big part of our life's, I couldn't imagine not journaling and capturing their presence in our days.
I challenge you, have you scrapped your pet lately. If not, you should do a couple and I 'll bet they'll make you smile....
Have a great weekend -L.

this little number is one of my newest additions to the all too many felted bowls I have created. I have been felting now for a few months and It is an obsession of mine. If I can't felt I don't wish to knit it!!!
I love this bowl it is just perfect!! Today it will be traveling a short distance to a friends house. I can only hope she loves it a much as I do. Cause frankly, I don't want to give this one away. It is a yummie apple green and the buttons are pink with brown stitching.
Thanks for checking out this little wool delight!!

delicious red....

Welcome to my world of bowls...
One of my favorite things: bowls, mostly vintage stoneware.
But when a time came to me that I had to sit still with my feet up, I had to find something to keep me busy. Unfortunately the studio couldn't come to me. So I had to come with a little something.
Bowls. Bowls. Bowls.
Big bowls, little bowls, fat bowls, short bowls, knit bowls, crochet bowls. You name I've made it.
Aren't they just sweet...This series is one of my favorites. The brick red is delicious, and the buttons are actually pink.
A friend said, "Bowls?", "So like, what do you do with them. Can't really use 'em right?"
Well, I say yes you can! Simply for pretties, or a catchall in your home or studio. Why not just have something. Because it is beautiful. They make me smile.
Needless to say these red delicious bowls, fresh from the orchard will go up on my Esty store this week. Parting with them will be hard.
Note: The bowl with "Grow" is stitched in a yellow. Which is also Scrapper's Floss..which means it is a stiff thread and it looks fabulous. Had to use a little something from the Studio.
Thanks for stopping in orchard of delicious little bowls. Check back you never know what else might grow here.
Today I am grateful, to Mrs. Heldt, she was my Home Ec teacher. She taught me to knit and crochet, among other things. Each time I melt butter I think of her. Yes I admit that I am a Home Ec girl. That, I am sure ages me greatly, but I embrace it and only wish that Home Ec still held value in my school district.
She was wonderful and remembering her, I still smile and love her spirit. I wonder what she is creating today...

what to give?

So my baby got a new-do.....all for a good cause.
A few weeks ago we had a Relay For Life event for Cancer in our home town. We have a very successful event every year.
This was the year...."Mom I want to do my donation at the event." Really?
We attend the event each year, we walk the path and read all the honors of the survivors and the memorials of the ones we have lost. It is a wonderful event and it is very heartwarming and touching. Our home town Senior class organize it each year along with a dedicated teacher. He also happens to be the Mayor and he is inspiring.
Teams are formed, money is raised, and they walk all night. The event fills the park with events and festivities. We are all reminded of the importance of fighting and having the strength to not give into cancer.
This year was Belle's 3rd Locks for Love donation in her life time and I couldn't be more proud. If there's one thing we can grow it is hair... As night time fell and she was told that her donation would be on stage. Stop right there. Up there in front of everyone! Me! I don't want to. Well,
needless to say we made it on stage, but you can see the fear. Not about the hair we're good with that it was all about the crowd and the spotlight, that made it's way on her. Oh to be 11 again and have things seems so big.
As I walked the path this year I am grateful, that I am not on a luminary. We came so close and we thought for sure it was cancer. I pray each day and give thanks for my family that I was strong enough to overcome and my body didn't give into cancer. I pray each day that something later doesn't turn up. To every family living with cancer you are in my thoughts and prayers. You are in my heart.
Today I am proud and grateful.
I give thanks to everyone fighting to learn and find the cure. -L.
