let the weekend begin.....

As I sit by the pool.....I say let the weekend begin.......

May your drinks be merry.
May they be plentiful and delicious.
May the pool feel like bath water and may the sun toast your heart.
May your yard be mowed and the plants be watered.

May your pool boy be a delight.
May your driver be sober.

Finally....May you rest well, and remember the real reason we are enjoying the Freedom
to play and be merry.

Thank you to everyone who has served this country and their families, from our family to yours. We love each of you and we are grateful for you and yours.....

owlie owlie owlie....

Owlie...is just how we felt it today!! Didn't it turn out just divine.

This was the colors that Belle chose and at first and during the process I have to admit I wrinkled my nose often. However, once this delicious tote was finished and felted....it grew on me and now today Owlie or not it makes me smile..

I love it I had to adjust the pattern slightly the get the openings lined up for the strap, but hey it looks fab and she loves it. This tote even has side pockets for all sorts of goodies.
It is created with a double strand and I love how it feels good and solid to the touch. It is the perfect size for her treasures and a couple of good books.

I finished a small cosmetic bag for the inside. Overall this project took just a few hours and makes us smile. Even if we are a little owlie.

note: color can be a good thing, even if you think they don't match. They always manage to pull it off and here you are....

sending out the love.....

Sending out the love....

Greetings from the dog. This lazy, full spirited dog could remind us of a thing or two.

1. Never miss a meal
2. Enjoy that meal with an open and grateful heart.
3. Always play, run with joy and release.
4. Greet each person with a hug.
5. Greet them as if you have miss them forever. (Even if it was just a second ago.)
6. Smile with all your heart. Be inside out.
7. Be content with who you are and where you are.
8. Know it's ok to wail your tail, regardless of the size.
9. Give and you will receive more.
10. You are enough, just as you are.

This dog never quit. His legs and have walked a path I will not know. But wherever he has been I am so grateful he has found me. I can only hope and believe that who ever loved him first, knows in their heart, that he is safe and he is so very much loved.
Regardless of the circumstances he came from, I am grateful to them for making choices that brought him to me.

Life chooses for you, if your lucky, you are at times in the right place to feel it choose. You follow the path and it will be good.

This year has been one of the hardest yet, and I know as I climb back up that I begin each day all over again. This life it is ..............................what it is .................but then comes Charlie
and you remember, it is life. One that continues to change and grow.

So today we wish you a pant, a pet, and a pounce. May your weekend be filled with goodness, and maybe a lick or two.

bagbagbag

I am felting felting like crazy. I can't stitch fast enough. I love how you end with this large object and you end up with a sweet little goodie.
This little tote just makes you smile. I finished it on Wednesday, started a new one on Thursday and it will be done today. I am looking forward to sharing that one too.

This will be great for a grab and go. It is just big enough for a good book and a treat or two.

Knit happy!!!!

Today I am grateful for the sheep who make the wool in the world.

eye candy

Can there be eye candy in crocheting? I would say so!!

These little numbers are just so yummie it is hard to break down and use them. Who would have thought some quick simple little bits of cotton could be so delicious.
That's right they are washcloths for what ever, the bathroom or the kitchen. Right now they are a great decoration in the kitchen in one of my favorite bowls.

Things about them that make me happy: they are fast to create, they are inexpensive, they are cotton, they are practical, they are little bits of smile, and finally they are stitched with bright threads of joy.

Bright joy on an overcast day.

sewwhat......

I am so excited to tell you, that I am done with my first ever tote. I never thought I'd see the day. It is so much to fun to finish. I love to felt. I love how this giant odd looking yarn variety of an object turns into something I can use and take in public!!

When I was done, this measured approximately 24 1/2" wide by 29 1/2" long. It was huge.
Once I felted this little goodie two times. It is now 13"x14". I love it's density and it just makes me smile.

It is created from 100% wool fibers, 5 skeins and the only thing I would have done differently is I would have doubled the yarn and used 10 skeins. This would have made it more sturdy and stiff. Next time. I chose the dark brown for the bottom to hid dirt. Because I plan to cart this one around often.

I love it. Pretty good for a girl who just taught herself this winter. I took it up after being put on a winter long bed rest. I really needed to keep the hands busy.

Tomorrow I'll share cotton crochet goodies...

Creativeness comes in all forms, what counts is that it makes "YOU" smile when your done.

Be creative....-L

so lets go to the fair

Yes, the fair....the science fair...This weekend the fair was held for our state or region or something for 3,4,5, &6th graders. OMGosh. There's mine all set up and ready to wow the judges, can you see her? I am just sure you can spot her right?

First of all I was reeling about the 7:30 am set up time and being there all day until 4 ( which, note turned into surprisingly 5:30ish) I of course am saying it with happiness and joy in my heart. Ok, well I have a serious case of bleacher butt and junk food high. Sadly nothing on a stick or even a hint of cotton candy...MAN!!!

I could not believe the number of children in this world that are my Belle's age. I don't know what I was thinking but there must be millions of them. Each of them on Saturday had a plan.
They are so creative and smart at this age, it is amazing. I must say I felt pretty dumb in a room full of smarties. It was fun to see all of the ideas and how they came to their conclusions.
I am pretty sure that I AM NOT SMARTER THAN A 3rd grader and definitley not than a 5th grader.

I mean did you know that you should be kissing the dog and no that doesn't mean your hubby. What ever you do stop drinking soda right now, especially MtDew, sorry lovers but a 3rd grader said so. I believe him those bones were gross...

So I am sure that you have been reading this and holding your breath! Because this proud mom has to announce that my sweet girl took 1st in microbiology(Of which I had to spell check, I know!!) We are biology cloud nine, being our first ever fair, it was great to watch her be successful.

So what did she research? I know your curious. "Grow Algae Grow". She studied the growth of algae in various water sources. Wanting to determine that algae can sustain life and grow rapidly in any type of water. Her goal was to prove that in our future we would be able to grow and use algae to replace oil and diesel. To run the cars and heat the homes, regardless of the environment. And to use as a vegetable source to feed people and animals.

Here's what I got our city filtered tap water, grew the most dense and fastest algae in the study. I have also stopped drinking water, at least from my town. :)

Needless to say I am thrilled to remove all the jars of gross life sustaining wonders from all of my windows and move on with life as we know it. But do remember, that if see an sweet little 5th grade girl who looks like she might want to safe the earth, give her a proud hand shake. She just might be the one.

Now, I have to go find something to drink, I am thirsty..

-L
note: the photos are of two different areas in the college, there were soooooo many of the short wonders!
also check back tomorrow...I'll show what I've been up to...hardyharhar...not fair quality but cool..
